The beauty industry is changing—and our clients are looking for stylists who understand more than one type of hair.
At Mélange, diversity is at the heart of who we are. Even our name reflects it; Mélange is French for a mixture, a blend, a diverse combination of people and things. We believe beauty should be inclusive, and every client deserves to feel seen, understood, and confident in the hands of someone who truly understands their hair and beauty needs. We are intentionally seeking talented stylists with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and expertise, including those skilled in textured, curly, coily, and ethnic hair, to help us create a collective that reflects the beautiful diversity of the community we serve.
We are especially excited to connect with stylists who have knowledge and experience in:
Textured Hair • Natural Hair • Protective Styles • Curly Hair • Cutting • Men's Grooming • Ethnic Hair Care •

You don't have to know everything.
You just need to be willing to learn.
We believe diverse knowledge makes our entire team stronger and gives our clients access to a more inclusive beauty experience.
You don't need a giant clientele list.
You don't need to have everything figured out.
You don't need to know exactly what your career will look like five years from now.
You do need:
A willingness to learn.
A desire to serve people well.
A strong work ethic.
A commitment to growing your skills.
And a passion for beauty.
We'll help you build from there.
Mélange Refinery is designed for professionals who want to build something—not simply rent a chair.
We're looking for stylists who want to:
LEARN
Continue developing your technical skills and knowledge.
GROW
Build a clientele and increase your earning potential.
CREATE
Develop your own specialty, style, and reputation.
CONNECT
Work alongside other talented beauty and wellness professionals.
BELONG
Be part of a culture where individuality is valued and everyone has something to contribute.
It can start with a chair, a pair of shears, a willing heart, and a place that believes in your potential.
Beauty. Wellness. Community.
Come bring your talent. We'll help you build the rest.

Let's talk about where you are, where you want to go, and whether Mélange is the right place to build your career.
Starting your career shouldn't require thousands of dollars before you've even built a clientele.
At Mélange, our commission model allows you to start working without paying traditional booth rent upfront.
You earn as you grow.
Your success is our success.
With a commission structure, you receive a percentage of the services you perform rather than paying a fixed monthly booth-rental fee.
That means you don't have to walk into a salon on day one wondering:
“How am I going to cover my rent this month?”
Instead, you can focus on:
With traditional booth rent, you are essentially renting your space inside a salon.
You typically pay the salon a set amount every week or month, whether you have clients or not.
For example:
$150/week booth rent = approximately $600/month
You owe that amount regardless of whether you make $100 or $1,000 that month.
As a booth renter, you generally have more responsibility for things like building your own clientele, marketing yourself, purchasing supplies, managing your business, and handling your own expenses. Booth rental can be a great model for an established stylist with a strong, consistent clientele. But it can be challenging when you're just starting out.
With a commission model, you don't pay a large fixed rent simply for having a chair.
Instead, you earn a percentage of the services you perform.
For example:
If you perform $1,000 in services and your commission is 60%, you would earn $600.
If you perform $2,000 in services, you would earn $1,200.
Your income grows as your business grows. For a new stylist, this can provide an opportunity to build your clientele without carrying the same fixed overhead of booth rent. At Mélange, we believe this creates a great environment for stylists who are still developing their clientele and learning how to build a sustainable career.
